Winter, 1985-1986 sometime. This is the dorm I stayed in at Northern Illinois University. Here you see me in my usual study mode. In this picture, I'm actually in the room of Vinnie "Vinniola" Maniola. A guy with a love for loud cars, and even louder stereos. In this clip, I'm playing my Strat plugged into his 1200 watt stereo - very loud. The RA's loved me...

This same stereo, BTW, later went down to defeat in a volume contest against my guitar amp. He had the Carver cranked; my amp was only on 5. He didn't really understand that whole "clean watts vs. distorted watts" concept...
